Frequently Asked Questions

At The Mom NP, we know women have unique needs - and we’re here to make your healthcare simple, supportive, and stress-free. Here are answers to some of the most common questions:

What is The Mom NP?

The Mom NP is a women-focused Direct Primary Care (DPC) and integrative wellness practice in Santa Rosa Beach/Destin, Florida. We provide personalized, relationship-based care for women at every stage of life - from postpartum and perimenopause to everyday primary care and prevention. Our care model combines traditional medicine with holistic support, so you always feel seen, heard, and cared for. We see all women at every stage of life, not just Moms.

What is Direct Primary Care (DPC)?

Direct Primary Care is a membership model that replaces copays, deductibles, and surprise bills with a simple monthly fee. Membership includes lots of other perks and cost savings including labs, many medications, and direct access to your medical provider:

  • Unlimited visits (in-person or virtual)

  • Same-day/next-day appointments

  • Many labs and point-of-care tests

  • In-house acute medications (like antibiotics)

  • Secure messaging with your provider

What makes The Mom NP different?

We are not a “one-size-fits-all” clinic. Care here is:

  • Accessible: Same-day/next-day appointments, secure texting, no rushed visits

  • Personalized: Programs and treatment plans designed around your unique needs

  • Supportive: A “village of support” with mental health, lactation, and wellness partners

  • Transparent: Clear pricing, no surprise bills, no insurance games

Do you take insurance?

We do not bill insurance. Instead, your all-inclusive membership provides predictable pricing and better access. You can still use your insurance for specialists, imaging, or hospital care if you wish. Many of our patients find that a high deductible health insurance plan pairs well with the DPC model. You can also use an HSA/FSA account to pay for membership fees tax free. Many members find they save money overall with DPC, especially with rising insurance premiums.

Do I still need insurance?

Yes - we recommend keeping at least a high-deductible or catastrophic plan for emergencies, hospitalizations, or major specialty care. Your membership covers nearly all of your primary care needs and many routine labs and medications, but insurance is still useful for big-ticket items outside of primary care.

What services do you provide?

We care for the whole woman, including:

  • Primary Care: Preventive health, chronic condition management

  • Women’s Health: Hormone optimization, thyroid support, perimenopause care, contraception counseling

  • Specialty Programs: Metabolic Reset, Perimenopause Optimization, Postpartum Reset

  • Wellness: Nutraceuticals, vitamin injections, red-light therapy

  • Village of Support: Mental health therapy, lactation services, pelvic floor therapy, and more

How does the membership work?

You choose the tier that fits your needs (Core Care or Concierge Plus), pay a monthly fee, and receive full access to what’s included. Some programs (like Metabolic Reset) are structured for a set timeframe with bundled services.

Can I just book a one-time visit?

Most of our care is through membership because it allows us to provide continuity and better results - as the traditional health system is built on fragmented care and long wait times, we set ourselves apart with impeccable service that meets our patients where they are. However, we do offer certain consults or starter programs as one-time options - and you can apply part of that cost toward a membership if you join within 14 days.

What if I’m healthy and rarely need to see a doctor?

That’s wonderful! Your membership is designed to help you stay that way. Even if you don’t need frequent visits, you’ll still benefit from:

  • Preventive screenings and annual wellness check-ins

  • Unlimited access to ask questions or get peace of mind when something comes up

  • Discounts on labs, supplements, and wellness services

  • Having a trusted provider in your corner when you do need care

Many of our members say the peace of mind alone is worth it.

What happens if I need a specialist or hospital care?

Your membership with The Mom NP covers all of your primary care and women’s health needs, but if you ever need specialty care or hospitalization, we’ll help coordinate it for you.

  • Specialists: We provide referrals and share your records so your care is seamless. If you have insurance, you can use it for those visits. If you don’t, we can connect you with cash-pay or discounted options.

  • Hospital care: While we don’t admit or round in the hospital, we’ll stay in touch with you and your hospital team, and we’ll follow up closely after discharge to ensure your recovery and next steps are well supported.

  • Ongoing support: Think of us as your first call and central home base - we help guide you through the healthcare system, so you’re never navigating it alone.

Can I contact Lisa after hours or on weekends?

Yes! One of the benefits of membership is direct access. You can text or message securely anytime. While we can’t guarantee immediate responses 24/7, members receive timely replies—even after hours—when something urgent comes up. For true emergencies, always call 911, but for most health needs you’ll find the accessibility is far greater than traditional practices.

Are my medical records shared with insurance companies?

No. Because we don’t bill insurance, your records are not automatically shared. They remain private between you and your provider, unless you authorize a secure release.

Do you see men or children?

Our primary focus is women’s health, but we do see spouses of members and offer select services for men (such as primary care, hormone therapy and hair restoration). We see adults only.

How do I know if The Mom NP is right for me?

If you value personalized, accessible care with clear pricing - and you want a provider who truly listens - The Mom NP may be a great fit. Book a consultation or trial month to experience the difference.

Where are you located?

We are located in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida (Destin/30A area). Our clinic is warm, welcoming, and designed with moms and women in mind.
